Barcelona, April 22nd, 2020; - Heura celebrates its third anniversary as the fastest growing European startup in the plant-based meat industry with a 450% growth in the last year according to its CEO and Co-founder, Marc Coloma. Together with Bernat Añaños, they launched Heura on Earth Day 2017 with its aim of boosting the change to a more sustainable food system that protects what society values the most: animals, health, the planet and our culinary heritage.

In these 3 years, the activist start-up has already made its positive impact on the industry. Bernat Añaños, Co-Founder of Heura, explains that "we have already saved 276,643 animals since we started and this year we hope to reach 1,500,000 with the growth figures that we are reaching".

The consumption of animal products represents 75% of greenhouse gas emissions from the food industry. In this sense, Añaños highlights that "thanks to Heura's consumption of plant based protein, to date we have already saved more than 3.6 million kg of CO2, the equivalent to drive 375 times around the world by car."

According to the FAO, currently livestock represents 80% of the farmland representing less than 20% of the calories ingested on the planet. However, Heura has already managed to reduce the equivalent of 404 soccer stadiums like the Camp Nou. In addition to all these saving, there is also the water; Heura has already contributed to save more than 323 million 8-minute showers.

根据联合国粮农组织（FAO）的统计数字，目前畜牧业占用了地球上80%的农田，却只能为人类提供不到20%的食物热量。然而，Heura产品的推出促使畜牧业用地减少了相当于404个像诺坎普球场（Camp Nou）那么大的足球场面积。除了上述所有这些效益之外，Heura产品在节约用水方面也有贡献（畜牧业用水量很大），迄今相当于让人们节省了3.23多亿次的8分钟淋浴用水量。

"These figures give us encouragement to continue working hard on our international expansion that has Chile as its next destination, stepping for the first time in the Latin American market this June," concludes Coloma.
